Sway Perennial Trophies 2013


Joint trophy winners George Robbin and Joe HughesAs trailed since the 2012 AGM, this month we awarded the Club trophies in recognition of members’ efforts over the course of the season.

The Turner Trophy (President’s Trophy) for Most Improved Adult went to Nigel Blight.

Forest Fencers Head for Nationals


Arnie Seal qualifies for the BYC'sFollowing the Southern Region Fencing age group competitions at Reading last weekend, more of our junior fencers are heading for the British Youth Championships (BYC’s) in Sheffield this May.

At a buzzing Reading University Sports Park on Sunday, a united entry from Sway Fencing and Lymington Walhampton Fencing Clubs were part of an 132-strong field of epee and sabre fencers in two of the age group categories. Continue reading Forest Fencers Head for Nationals

Juniors from Sway Fencing travelled to Newbury for the Hampshire Age Group Foil competition hosted by Cheam School.

In only their second competitive outing, Will Prendergast and Arnie Seal took on the county’s more seasoned junior fencers in the Under-14 and Under-12 classes. Despite foil being the second weapon for both boys, they put up a lively fight against completely unknown opposition. Seal demonstrated a mature attitude in summing up their approach to the day saying, “if you win, you win, if you lose you lose – it’s a learning experience.” Seal finished eighth in the largest entry of the day.
