Southern Region Hub Days 2014

Fencing classic lungeThe first three hub dates are now arranged for 2014, so book the dates and join us at St Gabriels in Newbury:

  • January 5th
  • February 23rd
  • March 23rd

January is our ‘competition’ themed day.
Please check out the attached poster. Put it up at your club/school; pass it on to your fencing colleagues.

On the day we have available:

  • Fencing in all three weapons
  • Psychology sessions for fencers, coaches and parents
  • Armoury: find out a bit about looking after weapons and more…

PAT Testing: Current requirements mean that club equipment should be tested, wiring all PAT tested – we have a £10 offer for clubs to bring equipment along to be tested (if you have more than 8 pieces, we need to know please; Ian will hopefully manage more, but we need to plan) – we have a very special offer for all clubs who are happy to bring along equipment for regional competitions. Bring along a club rep or two to find out about assisting at competitions and there will be no charge at all for PAT testing – email rhlo@southernfencing.org.uk to book in for this offer.

Competition management: come along and find out the ins and outs of running a competition, or assisting at one. Learn from our on-the-spot expert – bring along your laptop and you can load ‘engarde’ (the program that is most commonly used to run competitions). Please email rhlo@southernfencing.org.uk to confirm you can bring along a laptop so we know what software copies are required – no charge.

Competition support: come and find out how you can help your fencer prepare for competitions, where to find information, what to do before the day, what you need to know on the day and what you can do to help – lots of help from us and each other, also a chat from our psychologist about how you can help and a chance to listen to him chatting to the fencers – no charge.

Region development: over lunch there will be an opportunity to chat with the committee about what is happening and what help is required.

The Regional Committee and Competitions Committee need more support from coaches, fencers and parents if we are to keep our region thriving and be able to support a range of competitions for all age groups and weapons.

March is going to be our ‘club’ themed day. So far booked:

  • A training session for all Club Welfare officers
  • We will have information about club development opportunities.
