A reminder that the deadline to sign up to Southern Region Fencing’s first regional training day for the 2013/14 season is approaching (1 September deadline). We need your support to make these sessions viable and enjoyable, so please think about coming along for some start of season training.

Aim of the training day: To assist fencers improve their technique in preparation for competitive fencing at all levels from beginners’ competitions to international events.
Weapons: Foil and Epee
Note: We may be able to accommodate Sabreurs if there are sufficient numbers, ie: more than 4 and there is a coach available. Please email email@example.com if you are interested
Age groups: The fencers will be split into two age groups
• Under 15 at the time of training
• Over 15 at time of training, this group will include adults
Note: There is no minimum age but U10s should contact firstname.lastname@example.org before signing up
Coaching: We aim to have an approximate ratio of 1 coach to 8 fencers and each weapon group will be led by an experienced coach. All personal coaches are actively encouraged to attend and observe. Content of the sessions: These sessions are intended to augment pre-existing training programmes. It is
intended that, at most sessions this season, there will be an athletic development/strength and conditioning coach. It is also intended at some sessions an expert from a different field of fencing or sport will be working with the athletes e.g. armourer, nutritionist, sport psychologist etc.
Requirements: All sparring will be done in full whites (breeches and socks required) irrelevant of weapon. Each fencer should bring full electric kit, gym kit, food and drink for the day, training diary/notepad pen.

Number of places available: There will be a maximum of eight places per weapon and age group, so please submit your entry now to secure your place.
If fewer than four entries are received for a weapon/age group then unfortunately we will have to cancel that group. Full refunds will be given to any fencers affected.
